Does Dr. Kamps offer psycho-educational assessments?

Are there programs offered for children with coordination difficulties?

Dr. Kamps also offers gross motor programming for children who have coordination difficulties. Using a client-centred approach within a small group of similar aged children of the same gender (usually), she will assist the child in learning the types of skills that they want to master. For example, she assists in the development and acquisition of skills such as: running, throwing, kicking, catching, jumping, and playing baseball, basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, floor hockey, Frisbee, etc. She also teaches skipping, riding a scooter and /or skateboard, and will do private sessions for teaching children how to ride their bicycle.

Is it possible to do a consultation before having my child assessed or to learn more about coordination difficulties?

Dr. Kamps also offers individual consultations with parents and other professionals who want to learn more about DCD. This often takes place before parents decide to pursue a full assessment or their child's participation in a program of skill development.

Because Dr. Kamps does not work for or in a government sponsored medical agency, she depends on financial compensation from her clients. If you have some type of employee assistance program that covers psychological services, ALL or PART of your costs may be covered. Check your policy carefully to determine what may be covered, if coverage involves each member of the family, and what the ‘year' consists of (e.g., is it January to December or a ‘school term' – July to June?). This is important information.
